Day 1 - Travel to Shenandoah National Park
351 miles and 12 hours we arrive after
a delayed start with trailer problems right out
of Brooklyn. The leaf springs on the left side of
trailer finally gave out 30 miles short of the
park. Extended lunch, food shopping and
repacking of gear from trailer to vehicles take
up a significant amount of time. Trailer is left
in the shopping center for the night. We enter
the park through the Thornton Gap entrance
and travel South to Big Meadows Camp.
Day 2 - Shenandoah National Park
Two of the adults spend the morning
attending
(85 miles roundtrip) to the trailer, a
new leaf spring on the left side is required.
The rest of the troop decide on a hike in the
great countryside. Most trails start at an
altitude of approximately 3,000 feet. They
chose a trail that would allow them to swim at
some point. Great choice as you can see. The
deer are abundant and very visible at dusk
and dawn, and approachable. Bears seen on
Skyline drive from vehicle.
