Thunderhawk
The Troop discovered this spot almost a
decade ago and has been enjoying it ever
since. A challenge for anyone who has never
climbed outdoors before.
As always,the rappelling session starts
with more training and demonstrations
from the experienced scouts supervised
by the adult staff members. More swiss
seat training as well as intense safety
issues are reviewed. Then its time to
climb to the rappelling station. The
excitement grows as you wait your turn
and follow the old timers lead for an
exhilarating rappel. Sometimes its so
good you pause and smile for the camera.
A quick lunch at Thunderhawk before the
Delaware river.
Rafting the Delaware
Rappelling in the hot sun makes the
Delaware river very desirable. The Troop's
rafts are used to skoot down Skinners Falls.
The non swimmers get to spend their time
splashing and dipping near shore under the
supervision of an adult staff member. If
enough adult supervision is available and the
scouts are qualified, inner tubes, kayaks or
canoes are also available. This year some of
the boys also enjoyed a serious frog hunt,
made easier due to the mating season. The
river was never more enjoyable than this year.
We had perfect weather and the river was
flowing at average levels despite the minimal
rainfall.
