Swimming Hole
The infamous Father Myers swimming hole. Traditional
stopover to cool off after a long hike in the woods. We did
not hike this time. However, we were fortunate that the
weather warmed up substantially by mid afternoon to allow
us to go swimming.
There is plenty of fun for every one at the swimming hole, under the watchful eyes of the ever
vigilant scoutmaster. You can be tarzan and swing from the swinging rope, landing safely in the
five to six foot deep section. Non swimmers can cool off an splash with the best of them. If your a
beginner you can practice your strokes. Swimmers can do significant laps and hone in their skills.
There is always time to work on the dam or hunt for frogs. If nothing else, just standing around in
waist deep water or the shoreline talking, laughing, or just watching makes for a great afternoon
when the temparature is climbing. This tradition continues annually with the Troop has it has
since the late 1950's. Not only on Memorial Day, during our two week summer camp stay at
Aquehonga we will visit the swimming hole several times. As the weather permits.
